We are looking for a local purchasing manager for our office in Shanghai (Pudong) as soon as possible.
Your tasks
- Set up of Purchasing function in China with focus on Commodity Management and Non-Production Purchasing in close alignment with local organization in Ingersheim.
- Close collaboration and “sparring” with local Management (start-up approach in 2023/2024).
- Close collaboration with HQ in Germany (Global Purchasing Function) and appliance of Group Purchasing strategies.
- Representing Purchasing and being one point of contact towards local/global organization for Purchasing matters in/for China.
- Continuous market screening, initial development and expansion of an appropriate local supplier portfolio, particularly for production material (Forging, Stamping, Tubes, KTL-Coating) and Non-Production needs (incl. equipment and furnishing of starting operations).
- Improvement of material prices in accordance with the project targets (production material) and the budget (non-production material, tooling).
- Ensure supply of material and general services.
- Strongly supporting Project Management department (customer- and change projects) for product launches in China.
- Provide support to the logistics area regarding supplier issues, incl. active involvement in bottleneck management.
- At a later stage: build up, lead, motivate and develop local Purchasing Team.
- KPI: Monthly qualification of suppliers, Support Supplier Boarding, Material Price Development / Savings (in % of total purchases), cost avoidance (non-production material). Upload Update of Material- and Supplier master data.
Your qualifications
- Successfully completed studies in the field of business administration, industrial engineering, or similar, preferable with specialization in international SCM/purchasing.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in operational purchasing.
- Experience in commodity management, project purchasing and non-production purchasing.
- Experience in industrial or manufacturing companies, preferably in the automotive sector.
- Preferably knowledge and experience in an international environment and in matrix organizations.
- Experience in project management.
- Solid negotiation skills, including experience in negotiation design.
- Analytical and conceptual skills as well as a structured way of working.
- Convincing communication skills.
- Independent and proactive personality with assertiveness and the ability to convince employees and colleagues.
- Leadership skills are an advantage.
- Solid knowledge of MS Office and SAP MM.
- Knowledge of the IATF16949 and ISO 14001 standard.
- Furthermore, you have fluent English language skills time flexibility and ability to work under pressure, willingness to travel.
